location inspirations and choices (cts, IP)
Our location choice could be set inside a modern day house. We found that inserting horror into places where people usually feel is a safe environment will bring them out of their comfort zone, meaning that using a house will create a creepy atmosphere forcing the viewers to feel unsafe in their own home.
Paranormal activity
We got an amazing idea from the film paranormal activity. We saw that the house they used on the inside was like an ordinary middle class house which is good for making the majority audience feel as if the same situation could happen in their own home.
We believe that using a house for paranormal is a brilliant idea as it has a good range of natural lighting levels from bright spots to dark corners of rooms. this effect could be useful to us as dark spots leave great tension as you dont know whats lurking about in the dark leaving the audience in suspense.
Our location choice
We chose to shoot our Horror Opening title sequence at Alices house because her house is a town house and it is a tall building which made it look daunting and scary. Our film is a paranormal and the storyline is that a Yuri is after the people that are living in the house. There are paranormal things in the house, and as Alice's house is a family home it fitted to the storyline well. We also noticed that most paranormal films are shot in an old and scary house, this is why we chose to film in a house and with the lights dimmed throughout Alice's house we produced some good shots as it had an underground floor so it made the house look older. We believe that this house that we've chosen is a good idea because it has good layout for us to use a variation of amazing shots. The reason that these shots will be good are because of the lighting in the house, it has low key lighting in order to set a scary mood within our title sequence. (CTS)
For example the shot on the staircase is a brilliant shot as the door at the bottom of the stairs is is darkened out which could be a very useful effect for our sequence shots.
